05■医療が翻訳しなければならないのは〈説明 の難しい＝解釈を求められる＝病気〉という現象なのだ

医療者によって、病人に振りかかった病気が生物医学の病理的なモデルで、当の病人に説明されても、運命としての病気の「意味」を病人にすぐに理解しても らうことはきわめて困難になるというのは、経験的事実である。医療者を普通の西洋人、病人をザンデ人と喩えてみると、病気としての妖術は、エヴァンズ＝プ リチャード（1937）によって次のように解釈される。このメタファーが興味深い点は、非当事者である医療者が知的に病気を理解しようとするのに対して、 当事者である病人は、身に降りかかった病気を「行為として正当化（to justify action）」しようとしているからである。

"The Zande actualizes these beliefs rather than intellectualizes them, and their tenets are expressed in socially controlled behaviour rather than in doctrines.
