| １．私たちはアルコールに対して無力であり、生きていくことがどうにもならなくなったことを認めた。 | 1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable. |
| ２．自分より偉大な力が、私達を正気に戻してくれると信じるようになった。 | 2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. |
| ３．私たちの意志と生命の方向を変え、自分で理解している神、彼の配慮の下に置く決心をした。 | 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. |

| ８．私たちが傷つけたすべての人の表を作り、その人たち全員に進んで埋め合わせをしようとする気持ちになった。 | 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. |
| ９．その人たちやほかの人を傷つけない限り、機会あるたびに、その人たちに直接埋め合わせをした。 | 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. |
| 10．自分自身の棚卸しを続け、間違ったときは直ちにそれを認めた。 | 10. Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. |

Twelve Traditions |
| １．優先されなければならないのは、全体の福利である。個人の回復はＡＡの一体性にかかっている。 | 1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon AA unity. |
| ２．私たちのグループの目的のための最高の権威はただ一つ、グループの良心のなかに自分を現される、愛の神である。私たちのリーダーは奉仕を任されたしもべであって、支配はしない。 | 2.
For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority—a loving God
as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but
trusted servants; they do not govern. |
| ３．ＡＡのメンバーになるために必要なことはただ一つ、飲酒をやめたいという願いだけである。 | 3. The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. |
| ４．各グループの主体性は、他のグループまたはＡＡ全体に影響を及ぼす事柄を除いて、尊重されるべきである。 | 4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or AA as a whole. |
| ５．各グループの本来の目的はただ一つ、いま苦しんでいるアルコホーリクにメッセージを運ぶことである。 | 5. Each group has but one primary purpose—to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers. |
| ６．ＡＡグループはどのような関連施設や外部の事業にも、その活動を支持したり、資金を提供したり、ＡＡの名前を貸したりすべきではない。金銭や財産、名声によって、私たちがＡＡの本来の目的から外れてしまわないようにするためである。 | 6.
An AA group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the AA name to any
related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money,
property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose. |
| ７．すべてのＡＡグループは、外部からの寄付を辞退して、完全に自立すべきである。 | 7. Every AA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. |
| ８．アルコホーリクス・アノニマスは、あくまでも職業化されずアマチュアでなければならない。ただ、サービスセンターのようなところでは、専従の職員を雇うことができる。 | 8. Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever non-professional, but our service centers may employ special workers. |
| ９．ＡＡそのものは決して組織化されるべきではない。だがグループやメンバーに対して直接責任を担うサービス機関や委員会を設けることはできる。 | 9.
AA, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards
or committees directly responsible to those they serve. |
| 10．アルコホーリクス・アノニマスは、外部の問題に意見を持たない。したがって、ＡＡの名前は決して公の論争では引き合いに出されない。 | 10. Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the AA name ought never be drawn into public controversy. |

Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than
promotion; we need always to maintain personal anonymity at the level
of press, radio, and films. |
