はっきり言おう！ Flipped classroom や flip teaching あるいは flip learning を「反転学習」とわかりにくい名称で呼び始めたやつは馬鹿者である。あるいは、それを十分に理解せずに、馬鹿の輪唱のごとく、反転学習、反転学習〜♪ と言い続けているやつは大馬鹿者である。はっきり言おう！ Flipped classroom の flipped は、でんぐり返しになった状態のことを言い、flip はお好み焼きやホットケーキを「ひっくり返す」という意味なのである。したがって、教室がでんぐり 返しなった状態とは、一般に、教室という勉強するところが「でんぐり返し」の状態になり、自宅や図書館など自分の勉強しているスペースが教室になるという 意味なのである。そうして教室では、教えるのは子供たち教えられるのは先生なのだ（ただし、そのような「ごっこ」をして、子供たちを学習させる詐術的手法）。
したがって、この flipped の意味はトリッキー（＝人を欺く／騙す）である。教室こそ勉強する場なのであるが、教室での勉強がどうも非効率——勉強をばりばりできる奴にはものたりな く、勉強をやる気のない奴にはそれ自体が苦痛の場になりスマホや私語にうつつを抜かす——なのに気がついた、教育学者たちが、自宅でビデオ（＝既成の授業 のストリーミングやアニメや動画などを上手に使った（決して放送大学の講師のように退屈でダサくはない）映像）を観て、課題や宿題を、それこそネットの資 源を参考にしながらこなして、（これまで一方向的に教えて／教えられていた）教室では、教師やTAが個別指導に応じたり、学生どうしがお互いに教えたりし て学習をするというパターンのことをさす。
すなわち、Flipped classroom や flip teaching あるいは flip learning（セイヤー・メソッド）とは教室がでんぐり 返しなった状態とは、一般に、教室という勉強するところが「でんぐり返し」の状態になり、自宅や図書館など自分の勉強しているスペースが教室になるような教育方法である。レクチャーを聞いて 情報収集したり演習において板書して教師からみんなの前で添削を受けるような勉強は《しない》、そのかわりに、でんぐり返って、自宅でそれをやり、ノート や答え合わせは自分でやる。そして、大学の教室では、個別指導を受けたり、学生がコメントや解説をして、教授が質問をして「復習」をするような方法を、Flipped classroom や flip teaching あるいは flip learning（セイヤー・メソッド）、という。
繰り返しになるが、反 転授業は、レクチャーを聞いて 情報収集したり演習において板書して教師からみんなの前で添削を受けるような勉強は《しない》、そのかわりに、でんぐり返って、自宅でそれをやり、ノート や答え合わせは自分でやる。そして、大学の教室では、学生がコメントや解説をして、教授が質問をして「復習」をするような方法を通して、学生と教師の立場 がでんぐり返った（＝本当は知の権威を教師が握ったままなので反転というのも欺瞞的な呼び方だが、ここでは偽善的に振る舞い→すばらしい）方法のことである。しかしながら、このような風景は、じつはオフィスアワーにおける個別指導や、北米 の有名一流大学のように、著名教授の授業とサンドイッチでTAによる少人数のセミナーが抱き合わせであるのに良く似ているために、反転ではないことに気づ くはずだ。でんぐり返しなのだ。
ようするに、おつむの足りているとは思えないNHKが、熱血教室と銘打って、ハーバードのセレブ教授を垂れ流した……ように。
ちなみに、今日2020年8月24日は聖バルトロメ の祝日。バルトロメは生皮を剥がれて殉教したので、その聖像に包丁をもっている（左図）。Konrad Witzの作の右隣は新約聖書でお馴染みの「奇跡の漁」のシーンですが、遠くにみえる山はモンブラン、湖はレマン湖のようです。自分の知っている風景に、 ウィツ画伯は、我有（appropriate）するわけです。セイヤーメソッドも「でんぐり返し教室」も、先行する教育法を、自らが発見した方法であるか のように我有化（appropriation）しているわけ。

Flipped classroom is a form of blended learning which brings an interactive engagement pedagogy to classrooms by having students learn content online, usually at home, and homework is done in class with teachers and students discussing and solving questions. Teacher interaction with students is more personalized - guidance instead of lecturing. The name of the Thayer Method cames from General Sylvanus Thayer (1785-1872), ""Colonel and Brevet Brigadier General Sylvanus Thayer (June 9, 1785 – September 7, 1872) also known as "the Father of West Point" was an early superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point and an early advocate of engineering education in the United States.
